Hi all,
Just one of those things you always get with things like this
Please have a look through and stick to this so that we all get on and the forum remains a nice place for random talkage. I'll update this like a changelog.
Just so you know, these might change now and again, and you might not be individually told, but I'll put the revision date on here and it'll always be here for checking if you want.
1) Try and search before posting - just to make sure that whatever you want to say hasn't already been said or your question answered. You don't want to repeat yourself too much. I say, you don't want to repeat yourself too much...
2) Try to keep on topic if you can, though branching off and tangents are good if there's a point to them. Try not to completely take over pther peoples' posts too or steer them off course.
3) Be nice and respect each other. Expletives, profanity and insults will not be tolerated. If you have a problem with another member either talk through it properly and respectfully or turn to the respective moderator. If the moderator can't help you then contact Schamael directly. Flaming is not tolerated at all! We HATE FLAMERS! Flamers will be thrown into the Pit of Doom, Gloom and Shrooms!
4) Do not spam. No blatant advertising. You can share things and talk about things, but don't just advertise stuff - it's annoying. Spamming or botting may result in assassination. An example of what is ok:
"By the way, I made this little freeware program that might halp you with this... (URL)"
And what is annoying:
"Hey guys! Check out my site! (URL) At (URL) you can find all my awesome warez! Register! Monthly fee! Money money money...! (URL) (URL) (URL) !!!"
The latter will result in a wet fish slapfest. And I'm not being responsible for the mess that makes...
5) Nothing illegal please! Be good...
6) Try to keep the size of avatars down - huge avatars are really annoying. Same for sigs. Also keep them decent!
7) No cross posting. Post your message once, to the appropriate forum. Please don't fill up everywhere with the same things!
8) Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention. Also please capitalise them properly because it looks kind of crappy all in lowercase.
9) Don't post just to increase your number of posts or ranking. If you have nothing to say on a certain matter then don't post. A higher rank doesn't make you a better person.
10) The official language of the forum is English. Please try to use English if you can mainly. Also try to avoid over-the-top Internet derived talking. For example, don't talk like this all the time please:
"HEY GUYS! LOLZORZ I CN TTLY PWN U AL ON WoW! LOL! LOL! CHECK MA WAREZ 4 DA RECRDIN OV UR GMINZORZ LOL!"
That's just irritating. No "zorz" please. I hate "zorz". It is stupid. Also no full caps unless you actually are shouting. It will be taken that way. That said, you can use like "lol", etc - some use is fine but just not too over the top. Let's not degrade our language too much ^_^
11) Multiple registrations are prohibited and are grounds for immediate account deletion. And yes, we can tell.
12) Instructions by the admin/moderator team are to be followed.
13) Please do not link to illegal/adult content or harmful websites/software.
14) If you link to anything, please make sure it works - test it - otherwise it can be annoying for other people.
15) Also when posting URLs, don't just post a URL or just say "Hey guys - here's a cool site! - (URL)" Because that doesn't actually tell us anything about what the site is about or anything.
16) If you copy and paste part of an article or anything, please cite where you got it from and preferably link to it so interested people can read more.
17) We are not accountable for anything! We don't keep your email addresses, passwords, or any other information in any way, shape or form and neither do we give them to any 3rd parties without your consent. That said, we are not held accountable for data loss due to malfunction, accident or hacking attempts. Use some common sense when you post anything about yourself on the Internet or anywhere else!
18) Do not abuse the Karma system. I don't want to see people being too competitive with it. Also I don't want you to continually smite people purely because you don't like them. Exalting and Smiting should be done as a direct consequence of what somebody does or says - not who they are. Also, please don't gang up on people It's just not nice.
Noncompliance can result in temporary or permament banning or account deletion. Or wet fish slapfests. Or assassination. Or nuclear war. Or supernova. There is also a warning system.
Note that expletive language is not allowed in the main forum, but is allowed (though insults are not) in the "Adults Only" board. Common decency still applies though - anything indecent or deemed too unsuitable for the board will be deleted. If that board gets too out of hand then it will be removed. Its main purpose is for jokes that might offend some either due to language or topic.
Another note - it is not reccomended for people who are not using the adult topics boards to use the "View 100 most recent posts" button at the bottom of the homepage, as this will show recent adult topics as well as from other boards.
Thanks,
-=Schamael=-
